From November 8th to December 9th, Barcelona is celebrating the 6th edition of DOCfield Barcelona, a documentary photography festival organized by the Photographic Social Vision Foundation.

The theme for the 2018 edition revolves around love, using the title, “Amor. Efectos del afecto,” or, “Love. Effects of affection.” It explores and investigates the different forms of love.

DOCfield Barcelona transforms Barcelona into the center of international reference for documentary photography and visual journalism and publicly recognizes its social value. It is a free festival open to everyone and invites reflection, debate and the creation of public opinion.


The 7 exhibitions that make up the official section of the festival are located at Palau Robert, University of Barcelona, FNAC Triangle, CC Pati Llimona and Museu Marítim de Barcelona.

Apart from the official section, DOCfield Barcelona’s exhibition program extends throughout the city with 16 invited venues.

Palau Robert, the festival’s epicenter this year, will host the opening of DOCfield Barcelona with three exhibitions on November 8th.

DOCfield PRO

On November 24th, the 2nd edition of DOCfield PRO, a professional day aimed at photographers, journalists and communication professionals from the third sector, will be held. It will take place at the Mirador of the Center for Contemporary Culture of Barcelona (CCCB).

DOCfield Dummy Award Fundació Banc Sabadell

For the fifth consecutive year, DOCfield Barcelona is organizing the Dummy Award, the prize for photobook models — editorial self-publishing projects. The award includes a 3,000-euro prize to the author of the winning model for its subsequent printing as a photobook.
