This festival celebrates its 25th edition from November 12th-18th. It has become one of the longest-running film festivals in Barcelona. L’Alternativa encourages dialogue, debate, active participation and training, as well as a space for celebration, both for the general public and professionals, students, followers of independent cinema and family audiences.

The festival has two official competitive sections, feature films and short films, as well as parallel sections.

The parallel sections include the Panorama section, for national productions, and the Small Experiments section, for children’s cinema. It also offers a free and diverse program in the CCCB Hall every afternoon, which, this year, hosts a special section of short films from the 25-year history of the festival.

In addition, l’Alternativa provides spaces for training and debate, with masterclasses, creation workshops, round table discussions, workshops for schools and activities around their guests: a group of female film editors and director Boris Lehman.

The headquarters will be the Center for Contemporary Culture of Barcelona (CCCB), along with the Filmoteca de Catalunya, Zumzeig Cinema and the NOOK. The festival will also feature the digital video platform Filmin where you can see a selection of the films from this year’s edition.
