La Colla Castellers de Barcelona wants to invite the city to come help celebrate its 50th birthday in June. On June 8th, 1969, the Human Towers of Barcelona participated in their first act as a group. Before then, the Catalan capital had seen the occasional human tower group, but none of them was able to establish itself as a consistent entity.

After the Castellers of Barcelona held their first demonstration, things were slow going. However, with persistence and hard work, they began to integrate themselves more into the city’s popular culture. They continued improving upon the structures they could build and started to make a name for themselves amongst the elite of the region.

Today, they are ranked in the Top 10. For a reference, there are 83 registered human tower teams in Catalonia.
