After a successful first campaign of Ciudades Magníficas in Barcelona back in July, Cervezas San Miguel has rebooted its initiative for a fall edition that encourages Barcelonians to rediscover and support its bars and businesses.

The ultimate goal of “Magnificent Cities” is to enhance the emotional connection with the hotel industry and local commerce, as well as to push the pandemic recovery stage forward.

Presented today at Ocean Drive Hotel, the campaign launches in Barcelona tomorrow, October 14th, which happens to be Día de la Hostelería (“Hospitality Day”), and will run through November 14th. In attendance with the initiative’s organizers at the presentation were chefs Jordi Cruz and Sergio and Javier Torres. With big names in the hospitality industry behind the campaign, there’s no doubt that the second stage will be a success as well.

If you’re wondering why you should participate in this initiative, listen to actor Peter Vives as he talks about why Barcelona is such a magnificent city full of amazing places to discover. Plus, what better way to say goodbye to the warm weather than to sit on a terrace with friends and/or family and enjoy a caña with some good food?

For anyone not in Barcelona, there are other cities around Spain “on the menu,” too. This new round of Ciudades Magníficas will also be taking place in Bilbao, Burgos, Lleida, Malaga, and, as new additions, Palma de Mallorca and Pamplona. In total, more than 250 bars and a hundred shops will participate; back in July, the initiative was launched in five cities involving more than 200 bars and about a hundred stores.


The first step is to head out to one of the 50 participating bars and restaurants in Barcelona. The next step is to order one of the beers from the Magna de San Miguel line. By doing so, you give yourself the chance of winning a 50€ voucher—170 vouchers will be given away in Barcelona— which you can spend in one of the 30 collaborating stores. The final step is to enter the pincode from your bottle of Magna de San Miguel, or the coaster accompanying your copa, on the Ciudades Magníficas website to see if you’ve won!

A new addition this time around is that the participating bars and restaurants will also offer a combo at a special price that pairs a Magna de San Miguel beer and a selected tapa for you to enjoy a “magnificent” moment. If they’re anything like what was circulating at the presentation today, we can assure you that you’re in for a treat.
