BARCELONA MARATHON OFFERS UP FREE VIRTUAL RACE DUE TO COVID-19 PANDEMIC

Have you ever wanted to run a marathon but never had the time, or motivation, to do so? Zurich Marató Barcelona is offering you an enticing alternative: run a marathon distance in seven days and earn a special marathon medal!

The race is being called the Virtual 42/7 Marathon because you are free to run as many times as you need or want from November 8th to November 15th to reach the necessary 42.2 kilometers (42.195 to be exact). You could run a full marathon on any one of those days or, for instance, run about 6 kilometers each day for those seven days to cross the “virtual” finish line. The way you decide to run your race is 100 percent up to you, and you can run anywhere you’d like; really, you can run from wherever you are around the globe!

HOW DOES IT WORK?
All you need to do is sign up for free at VRace by Sport Heroes and connect your tracking app (i.e. Garmin, Nike Run Club, MyRunKeeper, etc.) to your profile. Once you’ve done that, register for the Virtual 42/7 Zurich Marató Barcelona event through the VRace page, and you’re all set!
The race begins at 5:00 a.m. (CEST) on November 8th and finishes at 11:59 p.m. (CEST) on November 15th.
After you finish each of your running activities, make sure you save them. You’ll see your marathon progress on your VRace profile’s dashboard.

If you’d like to receive the special marathon medal, you’ll have to request that option upon registering. It costs 5€ (plus shipping), and one of those euros will go to La Marató de TV3 for the fight against COVID-19.
There you have it! You’re not likely to get a better, more flexible chance at running a marathon again, so why not take advantage of the opportunity!
Get out and enjoy your race! (And respect social distancing protocol!)
